Bane by TerminAitor Bane by TerminAitor
Bane, the berserko thug. Instead of a leather mask, I used a metalic helmet in this design, wich I think gives him a more "beastly" look. By erasing the facial expresion, all the personality remains in his acts, which in Bane's case are all pure brute force, wall braking and car smashing fun( I don't remember quite well, but I thin he didn't speak in the film, did he?). The handcuffs and the belt have those rings that give a clue of the way Bane is held every time he is arrested, chained like a berserker dog (not for long, of course).

His skin shows the effects of the esteroids he uses, giving him a strange tone... this last detail comes from the design from The Batman, where you can see Bane mutate in a very original way. Nevertheless, my favourite Bane is the one from the Gotham Knights series.

EDIT: (after looking Bane up in Wikipedia) Well, wadayaknow, it seems Bane is a more whise fella than you could imagine by looking at his latest incarnations. My bad, lack of documentation. Although he seems to be famous for braking Batman's back XD

Sad thing is few people do Bane justice, making him the typical hulking moron, when he is actually meant to be a genius. Favorite Batman character, though, indeed. Amazing physique and mind.

Agreed, I mean, this is the guy who found out Batman's secret identity in less that a year, the guy who escaped from a max security asylum on an island, but everyone thinks he's a moron. Beside my rant, wonderful picture.

Oh yeah, bane is actually a genius dude figuried out who bats was in like 3 months by just observing him. Writers play him off as a strong idiot, guess it's cause frankly bane is a better tvillian then the joker, he is smart as bats if not smarter and can back it up with his physique.

Bane is my least favorite Bat villain because, for as smart as he's made to be, he's still just a thug with biceps the size of thanksgiving turkeys. He's a one-trick pony; all he's ever done of note is break Batman's back. If you can remember anything he's done since then without doing external research, then you have my respect, friend.

Bane has done much more. He is not just a simple thug he is perhaps one of batmans most formidable opponents. He broke out every villain in the violent ward of arkham asylum as part of his plan to "break the bat". He strangely knows batman better than any other villain to date, as he was the first villain to deduce batmans identity just by looking at him. He has also teamed up with batman temporarily after having a change of heart, and he ends up stopping a south american nuclear weapon scandal. He is injured and placed in a lazarus pit and the affects of the lazarus pit change him into a villain once more. no external researxh done my friend :D just love me some bane

You need to read more comics.
Bane became a replacement heir to Ra's Al Ghul's empire after Batman turned him down, before falling out with him and deciding to get him back by destroying all of the Lazarus pits. That's definitely something of note, considering Ra's recognized Bane's intellect as being equal to the greatest he's ever seen.

Successfully beating his addiction to venom and becoming more dangerous for it, Bane might not have superhuman strength anymore, but he's still a waaay stronger and skilled fighter than most, and is now more focused and not at risk of going into sudden crippling withdrawal (which is how he was eventually beaten the first time). He also slaughtered almost all of Two-Face's gang single-handedly during No Man's Land, beat up Joker, and then gained control of his home country of Santa Prisca for a short while.

He's been through so much during his years of character development, and I don't understand how you can say he's a one trick pony, unless you just haven't read the stories he's been in. :reading:

I haven't read comics since 2003. XD In fact, I'd say I need to read less comics if possible given the state of Marvel and DC's giant self-clusterfuck. Really, the only comic I read anymore is an indy title called Gold Digger. Also, I can spend money on better things, like lunch. I'd go into the whole schpeil as to why I don't read comics, but I don't think you'd care to hear it and I'm also tired of explaining it every time the right context comes up.

So far as Bane is concerned, though - yeah, I never read any stories with him in it, you caught me red-handed. But by the same time, Bane fails to stick out because all people remember him for is "BREAKING THE BATMAN," which I suppose makes him more of a one-hit wonder than a one-trick pony. He doesn't have the tenure of other Bat-villains, and he's not as interesting as, say, Harley Quinn, who precedes Bane by a couple years-ish.

If people don't read the stories he's in, of course all they're going to know about him is that he broke Batman. But a one hit wonder? Huh? He became an heir to the DCU's biggest terrorist ring before falling out and waging a one man war on them, he's gained control of his own country, and he was suspected to be Bruce Wayne's half-brother. He's now developed into an anti-hero rather than an all-out villain, and is ironically the moral compass of the Secret Six currently. He's a success story of a man defeating his own personal demons and beating the world back in a huge way for all of the abuse he's taken, in the form of his beaten addiction and controlling the country that imprisoned him. If none of that is impressive or interesting, than I don't know what is. I like all of the Batman villains, but as far as a clear arc of character development over the years, and the sheer volume and scale of accomplishments go, how is any of that less interesting than Harley Quinn? :O

This would actually make one helluva design for any animated Batman adventure, at least to me.
Think about it: With his looks being like that, one would be totally flabbergasted if he suddenly told you about the plan he hade conjured up for poor Batsy.

Brilliant!

Bane's an unusual brute. He's very smart and cunning, setting up complex traps to make sure that he can catch the Bats unaware. But he still prefers to use his fists to finish the job.

Anyhoo, excellent work! Really diggin' his proportions. That odd-shape of his head really fits well. ^_^

It's okay, he can still be a smart guy, even if he doesn't talk much. It'll just make him more devious if he hides his brains behind his brute appearance.
